About

I’m Verity James.

I’ve spent my life recording landscapes, moving from the coast of East Sussex to the hills of Devon and currently exploring the Scottish Borders. Ever since graduating with a Fine Art degree from Bath Spa University in 2000, my practice has been defined by the great outdoors.

Whenever the Scottish weather cooperates, you’ll find me outside, painting and drawing directly from the scene in front of me. While oils are my true love, I love to experiment—letting the environment dictate whether I reach for acrylics, watercolours, or printmaking. I’m incredibly grateful that my interpretation of these landscapes has resonated with collectors worldwide, with my pieces now finding a home everywhere from private collections to museums.

Throughout my career I’ve always wanted to make art an accessible activity. All aspects of it. When I ran an art gallery it was about making the space as welcoming and inclusive as possible.
